Want to know what my favorite candy is?
I'll give you a hint...it has chocolate and peanut butter in it.
I'll give you another hint....it's only available once a year.
And another hint because I'm feeling especially generous... it has to do with Easter.
Ok. I've messed with your minds long enough. I shall now unveil my favorite candy.
TA-DAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Never will there ever be anything like it. I'm fully aware of the Christmas tree variety they sell at Christmas. I know about the pumpkins they sell at Halloween. But nothing can ever compare to the Peanut Butter Egg. Not even a Reese’s peanut butter cup can compare to the magic that happens when a PB egg enters my mouth. It's magic. Sheer magic.
While we are on this topic wanna know what my Daddy's favorite candy is? The Cadbury egg. EWWWWW! Yuck! I love the mess out of my Daddy but can't comprehend why that is his favorite candy. Shew! I had a gag attack.
Dear Easter Bunny,
I don't want grass it clogs my vacuum cleaner. I don't want gummies. I don't want jelly beans. I don't want peeps. Not the yellow ones, not the pink ones, not the blue ones. I don't want Cadbury eggs they make me gag. Fill my Daddy's basket with those. I don't want chocolate bunnies. Listen real close bunny. I want Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. I want mounds of them. I want hundreds of them. I've been real good this year so fill me up! A few diamonds and silver won't hurt either. I'd hate to knock myself out of a blessing.
Love,
Rebecca Nanette Bradley Pruitt (I list my entire name so he knows exactly who I am. Easter Bunny isn't as smart as Santa)
One year my pesky aunts whom I love with all my heart filled my Easter basket with nothing but bottles of milk and bananas. Did you know that I hate milk and bananas? It's true. I hate milk and bananas more then I hate Cadbury eggs. Horrible jokers. After I wept and wailed they gave me my actual Easter basket filled with loot! That was a very traumatic Easter. I barely enjoyed Cowee Baptist Church's Easter Cantata that scarred me so bad. You will not see me smiling in those Easter pictures. Ha! Take that pesky aunts whom I love and adore!
Let me tell you about this cake. It ties in with my Easter drama. I promise.
This cake is the best version of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg. The cake is a very moist and delish devil’s food cake concoction and the icing is the best Peanut Butter Icing you've ever in your life tasted. The original recipe came from The Cake Mix Doctor but I tweaked a few things and made it my own. So if you’re craving an egg and can't get your hands on one don't fret. I'm here to save the day. You can thank me by sending me hundreds of PB eggs.
For the Cake
1 package Devil’s Food cake mix
1 package Devils Food chocolate pudding
1 1/3 cups buttermilk
1/2 cups vegetable oil
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pour all ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix on medium speed until completely blended. Pour into well greased cake pan and cook for 30-45 mins at 350 degrees.
Side note: your batter will appear very thick…almost like brownie batter. You haven’t messed up. It is supposed to look like that.
For the Icing
2 cups creamy peanut butter
18 tablespoons (or 2 sticks) butter at room temp
4 cups confectioners’ sugar (sifted)
8 tablespoons milk (or half and half or cream)
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
Cream PB, vanilla and butter together until smooth. Slowly add confectioners’ sugar until well blended. Add milk slowly until frosting is at your desired consistency.
Allow cake to cool and frost that sucker!
Two words: Yum O
Reeses eggs are my favorite too!! I might have to try that cake recipe! :)
