No news is NOT good news

So here I sit...it's Monday.  Gabby was supposed to be here on Thursday or Friday...and now its Monday and gabby isn't here.  To say I'm OK with the waiting would be a lie.  For a little while today I had the biggest most ridiculous pity party you have ever seen in your life, I had to put a stop to that.  Dwelling on sorrows never got anybody anywhere.  I have an abundance of blessings its time I dwell on those.

1.  I have an amazing husband.  He keeps me grounded and lets me fly all at the same time.  He is an amazing father and my partner in all things.

2.  Ethan's adoption is drawing near!  I wonder what it will feel like to have a child that is forever mine and have the paperwork to prove it!  I know it will be an awesome feeling.

3.  I am able to stay at home with my babies...in this day and time that is not something to take for granted or take lightly.

4.  Fall weather is approaching!!  I do love the summer and you will not ever hear me complain about the weather no matter how hot, cold, or rainy.  I really find weather complaining to be silly.  However I love all things fall!

5.  If God sees fit to not return gabby to us there is a purpose far greater then I can see that is taking place.  I was able to know her for almost 3 years and how precious that time is to me.  I count it as a blessing to have had her in my life when I did.  I pray for her return, and I also pray for the understanding my heart will need if she doesn't come home.

6. And I am most thankful that this is my God.
  Isaiah 40:31 (The Message)

27-31Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,

or, whine, Israel, saying,

"God has lost track of me.

He doesn't care what happens to me"?

Don't you know anything? Haven't you been listening?

God doesn't come and go. God lasts.

He's Creator of all you can see or imagine.

He doesn't get tired out, doesn't pause to catch his breath.

And he knows everything, inside and out.

He energizes those who get tired,

gives fresh strength to dropouts.

For even young people tire and drop out,

young folk in their prime stumble and fall.

But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.

They spread their wings and soar like eagles,

They run and don't get tired,

they walk and don't lag behind.

Gabby's Story...my side of it.

I don't know if it is wise to try and explain all of this when I am this excited about it.  It may all become a jumble excited mess....so if that's the case I apologize.

As my husband mentioned when we hijacked the blog Gabby came to us when she was 10 months old.  It was never meant to be a permanent situation.  However a few nights turned into days and weeks and months.  Her biological mother had issues she needed to resolve and we felt it was in the best interest of Gabby if she was somewhere safe during these times.  One day Allen and I were newly weds...the next day we were parents to gabby.  I can honestly say it was the best and worst times.  It always felt perfect when gabby was with us.  She fit into everything we did, and we did nothing without her.  Then it would be time for her to go to her mother and we were left with empty arms and hearts, but we always knew she would return.  She always returned.  This went on from the time she was 10 months old until she was 3 yrs old.  Then she returned to see her mother and all communication ceased.  Through multiple avenues of trying to find Gabby we found out her mother had taken her to Florida to begin a new life.
Devastation doesn't begin to explain how we felt.  We did what we needed to do legally and we left it in the hands of God.  Legally we had no rights to Gabby.  Legally we were nothing more than babysitters (that is exactly what we were told).
We never knew if we would be able to see gabby again.  He had hope we would, and we prayed we would, but honestly we really didn't know.
Then at the total hand of God miraculously the mother had to make a court appearance in May, it just so happened we had court that day to get started on Ethan's adoption and we ran right into her.  I can't explain how it all has played out because it doesn't even make sense to me.  God arranged this so perfectly that there is no way He could no receive all the glory.  The timing of all the events has Gods hand print over it.  Since may we have prayed and prayed for Gabby to come home... the right way.  Today we were officially told we will be taking guardianship over gabby until her mother does what she needs to do to get it together.  We do not know how long this will be but we will be able to come alongside her and help her get her act straightened out.  Gabby should return home to us by the end of the week.  We are elated to see her again after all these months.  Her room is ready for her to come back, and our hearts are overjoyed that our little girl will once again be in her home.  Please be in prayer with us over her emotional stability she has been tossed from one home to another for the past 6 months.  She was jerked away from the only home she knew and thrown into different surroundings.  As we have testified to with our other children God can work miracles and this is nothing He can't handle.  Thank you for following us on this journey!

From the Daddy...

Ok, so I have hijacked the blog page today.

I feel so blessed with what God has entrusted me.  On November 17, 2007, I married the most amazing woman in the world.  Rebecca is the most compassionate person one could ever meet.  It was her big heart and compassionate spirit that first grabbed my heartstrings and reeled me in.  She is the best wife any husband could ask for and I fall more and more in love with her with each and every passing day.  Let me be the first to let you know, I could never be a husband, father, friend, minister, or even live a day without her.  God knew what He was doing when He breathed breath into this masterpiece.  After meeting Rebecca, you will be forever changed.  I promise!

So, I have mentioned Gabby in the description of this blog.  God allowed Gabby to enter our home when she was only 10 months old.  I remember holding her and rocking her to sleep in Park West Church Choir's Rehearsal on Wednesday nights.  Little did I know she would be living with us, or even would melt my heart the way she has.  She is my first daughter, and will always be.  God allowed me to teach her her alphabet, see her take her first steps and grow into this tall, dark, beautiful little angel of God.  Her eyes will make anyone fall in love with her.  I know this will make things difficult when she is dating (at age 40).  Gabby is the reason we have opened our home to the orphans of this world.  It is because of her that we have touched, and will continue to touch, the lives of children that God brings our way.  Gabby's birth mother has made some horrible choices in life and Gabby is not currently with us.  I pray she will soon return to the place she knows as home.  However, should God not ordain her steps back to Mommy and Daddy, I hope she will always remember and know that we love her with every fiber of our beings!  I love you, Sweetheart!

Ethan...oh, Ethan.  He is "Mini-Me".  I promise.  I love this little guy.  He meets no stranger.  Every girl is his "girlfriend", and he is only 5!  He started Kindergarten today.  Rebecca was told by his teacher to leave, 'cause she was crying.  Ethan?  Oh, he adjusted well.  He had no clue we had even left the classroom.  It is amazing how God has different plans for each of His children, even though we hear so many negative words spoken over us.  Ethan was never to function properly in society because of the horrible things he had experienced prior to coming into State's custody.  Let me testify of God's amazing power!  Ethan tested out of his Special Education Course and has been placed in a normal classroom setting.  He had no behavioral problems today.  Praise God!  That may not always be the case, but Ethan will succeed...because he knows he can.  I know he can.  I know he will.  Ethan will grow up to do great things.  He loves God and we have spoken over him the fact that God has a plan for him.  This plan does not include drugs, sexual perversion, alcohol, or any other substance or temporary satisfaction Satan may toss his way.  As for the girlfriends...I am coming up with a plan to take care of these little hindrances.

We have been blessed to have several foster children come into our home.  Roy, Anna, Nick, Ashley.  They each have their individual stories.  Memories have been, and will be, made.  Stories will be placed on this blog that will make you laugh until you cry, make you think, make you pray, and simply tear your heart out.  As they are written, please know they are from our hearts, whether funny or serious in nature.

Please keep us in your prayers.  It is not the easiest of tasks to raise children that did not come from you.  But what a blessing in knowing that we will forever impact their lives.

Okay, I'm finished hijacking.
