Our newest "pretend play" toys. |
I really have to make it a priority to stop what I'm doing and play with them. When I make that a priority everyone always has a great time....even me!
So often they ask me to play with them and my responses are
"can't I'm busy right now"
"I don't have time"
"I've got other things that need to get done"
...you get my drift.
Instead of saying "go to your room and play boys" I need to say "Let's all play together boys".
One thing I know for a fact is that I will never regret stopping what I'm doing and playing with my kids.
I'm the mommy which means I have to make rules, enforce rules, model positive behavior, feed, clothe, bathe, provide shelter. However there's a lot more to motherhood than those things. I have wonderful opportunities to simply enjoy my children's company. Laugh with them, make mud pies, drink and eat pretend food they've slaved over, race cars, play tag, and be someone that not only mothers them but is also someone they enjoy being with.
They are only babies/toddlers/children for such a small amount of time. I don't want to waste this precious time "doing my own thing".
I love playing with them, I love this time in their life, and I don't want to miss a moment of it.
I have to wrap this up now we have pretend food to cook.
