Well I have reached a milestone!!! Feel free to get up out of your seat shout and do a little dance for me, I won't mind at all. Typically when I start a diet I last approx. 8 hours. Well I'll have you know I am on hour 72 and still going strong! yay me. I know this isn't a big deal to most but I celebrate any chance I can get. Allen came on board the weight loss journey so doing it together is helping. Thanks to a free weight watcher app on my phone I have a handy dandy little helper. So we are still going strong I'd love to tell you I'm already at my goal weight....but um yeah that hasn't happened yet ;)
So let me tell you what got me into the state I have found myself in. BUTTER! Not that fake tub crap. I mean BUTTER. REAL BUTTER. The kind that taste like heaven in the form of a stick. The kind that makes everything. I mean EVERYTHING taste better. My cousin Brittany likes butter so much when she would stay the summers with us she would steal a stick from the fridge, climb up on the counter where the sugar canister was and dip the stick of butter in the sugar and eat it like a sucker. Now a days Brittany is a cute little thing in college with a fabulous body...would someone PUH-LEASE tell me how that is possible. I never had sucker butter! I put butter in just about everything imaginable. Don't believe me? Look at my hips. (quick side note: If you have never had Irish butter you need to. Simply fantastic)
Another fantastic thing of my past is CHEESE. Not low fat or fat free cheese (yack vomit) but cheese! The oooey gooey kind that melts and is stringy and turns most food into GOOD food. No, GREAT food. Add a good 2 pieces of sourdough bread, a lot of butter, and a lot of cheese and you have the most fantastic grilled cheese sandwich on the planet. I love cheese (and butter). You can put it on a hamburger (making it a cheeseburger), mashed potatoes (which I used to make with heavy cream, butter, and then sprinkled bacon on top), Eggs, ooo my o my cheese is great.
White bread. Sour dough bread. Italian bread. Biscuits. Bread sticks. Rolls. Good ole WHITE bread. I have chosen to cut butter out as much as possible and the same with cheese. Using less or none at all. I don't enjoy it. I suppose its like an alcoholic only taking one sip of alcohol. Its hard to stop, but I must stop. So the same will hold true to bread. I don't like wheat bread, I think it taste like grass and I don't like grass. I'm going to explore my options and see what I can find that has "wheat" like qualities and still doesn't taste like I'm chomping down on dirt. I'll let you know what I find out there.
One thing that is making this easier is I love veggies! Green beans, salads, tomatoes, squash, broccoli, spinach, corn, mmm I do like vegetables. I used to like them with butter, and dressings, and cheese. But we won't get into that again. I like fruit too, but I have to be careful with fruit because I get a little carried away with it. And it can eat up my weight watchers points if I'm not careful.
So lean meats and veggies it is. With some fruits and lower fat options. I want this and for the first time since I have gained all this weight I can say I want it more then butter, cheese, and white bread. I'll keep you posted!!
